Very impressed with the quality of the products here. So fresh, so good. Yes it's expensive, but for such quality, I have no problem paying the price. Excellent service too. Just need to eliminate plastic bags!

Micro Boulangerie - Bakery in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Micro Boulangerie operates on a simple but unusual premise: no milk, no sugar, no butter, no egg. The Japanese baker behind it built the menu around this '4 Nos' philosophy, producing sourdough loaves that draw regulars from across Saigon — including at least one customer who kept making the trip after relocating to Hanoi. The bread is the story here. Sourdough loaves come studded with purple sweet potato, olives, walnuts, and almonds; the cream cheese baguette and cranberry-walnut loaf are the perennial sell-outs. Pastries fill out the case — the chocolate croissant and cinnamon muffin have earned their own followings, though a dissenting review flags the croissants as under-fermented and the white sourdough too heavily dusted with flour. The criticism is in the minority, but worth noting for those with strong opinions about crust. Prices run high by Thao Dien standards: 90,000 VND for a croissant, 150,000 VND and above for a loaf. The shop closes at 3 PM and sells through quickly — arriving late means a sparse case. Occasionally, test products that haven't made the official menu surface behind the counter; at least one first-timer walked out with a warm chocolate baguette simply by asking. The space is clean and compact, staffed by a small team of local women alongside the owner, handling prep, sorting, and service. Street parking on Thái Ly is limited. The clientele tends to be deliberate: expats and Vietnamese regulars who have worked through the neighborhood's other bakeries and settled here. The '4 Nos' constraint also functions as a genuine accessibility feature for guests with dairy or egg restrictions — uncommon at this level of Saigon's artisan bread market. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 7 AM to 3 PM; closed Mondays.
Reviews
Run by Japanese baker and many local ladies in preparing, sorting and selling. Different types of breads, baguettes and pastries. Guaranteed quality and you pay for it. Located in the middle of Thao Dien but chance to find parking for car and motorcycles
At 90k for a croissant and 150k+ for a white sourdough loaf, I honestly think Micro is overpriced. The quality is just above average. The croissant texture is good but lacks flavor from the fermentation. The white sourdough is too white and there was too much dusting flour used, resulting in a sandy texture at the bottom. Good to try if you're in the neighborhood but would not recommend to travel the city to try.
I went to Micro Boulangerie, said to be Saigon's No. 1 bakery, for the first time. The store was clean, and the staff were very courteous. I forgot the name, but personally, my favorites were the Saigon baguette and the chocolate Danish (or was it a croissant?). Besides that, the cinnamon muffin had an amazing texture.
I tried all the bakery shops in the neighborhood and this is for me the best. We had the cream cheese cranberry bread, fig and walnut, and chocolate croissant. All really good. They are very generous with the fillings and toppings. Lovely friendly service. Definitely my favorite bakery in Thao Dien now.
