Hidden Charm Restaurant - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Hidden Charm sits on Xuân Thủy in Thao Dien's dining strip, carrying a 4.9 rating across more than 1,400 Google reviews — the kind of consistency that points to something structural rather than a strong opening run. The dining room takes its visual cue from cascading vertical gardens, producing a layered, almost theatrical interior that sits at an obvious remove from the minimalist cafes and modern bistros concentrated nearby. Reviewers have likened it to the hanging gardens of Babylon, and the description earns its weight. The kitchen plates Vietnamese classics with evident care: dishes arrive well-seasoned and attractively presented, and the front-of-house team draws consistent praise for warmth and the ability to steer first-time diners toward the kitchen's better options. Draft and craft beers sit alongside the standard Vietnamese drinks, extending the meal comfortably past the food itself. Live music — typically piano, occasionally with vocals — runs most evenings, lending a calm momentum to the room without becoming intrusive. Weekdays offer a quieter, more intimate pace; weekends draw a fuller house and a noticeably more social atmosphere when the music and the room's layered setting work together. When kitchen execution has slipped — one review noted an overcooked chicken dish — the response was to remove the item from the bill and bring complimentary dessert, suggesting an operational attentiveness that holds even when something goes wrong. For Thao Dien, where the restaurant landscape now spans Japanese, Italian, and Mexican alongside local options, the kitchen's commitment to cooking that tastes specific to Vietnam rather than calibrated for export palates gives it a clear identity. Pricing sits well below comparable quality in District 1.
Reviews
It will be 5 star if they cook our food properly. We order 3 main dish, 2 of it was amazing, but the other one is chicken, they overcook and make it very hard to bite. They really sorry about it, remove it from our bill and even give us some dessert for complementary, love it! Keep improve 😉
A decent restaurant offering a wide range of Vietnamese classics. They also serve draft and craft beers, along with a variety of other drinks. We visited on a Wednesday night, and the place was completely empty, so it lacked a lively atmosphere - I imagine it’s different on weekends when they have live music. The staff were very attentive, and the food was good, making it definitely worth a visit.
It is a very nice and delicious Vietnamese restaurant I highly recommend if you want authentic Vietnamese cuisine and flavors especially if your visiting for the first time. The Hidden Charm restaurant has a great aesthetic and vibe. The live music is just amazing with great vocals and music. You can see the amount of work put into this and the flavors of this food is 10/10! I highly recommend this place.
This is an absolutely amazing Vietnamese restaurant with high-end authentic cuisine at very reasonable prices. The decor is also fantastic, reminiscent of the hanging gardens of Babylon.
