Hana Buffet Quận 2 - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Hana Buffet sits at the edge of the An Phú An Khánh residential cluster on Nguyễn Quý Đức, drawing the kind of crowd that comes specifically for a Chinese barbecue spread rather than a quick bite. The all-you-can-eat format anchors the experience — guests grill at the table, working through rounds at their own pace during the lunch block that runs to 3 PM and again through the dinner service that closes at 10 PM. The deliberate midday break between sittings keeps the kitchen from being stretched across a continuous rush, and the pace shows in the consistency that has earned it close to 900 Google ratings averaging 4.0.
In a neighborhood where most dining options skew toward Western cafes, brunch spots, and international bistros, a dedicated Chinese BBQ buffet occupies a different lane entirely. The format rewards larger tables — families, office groups, extended gatherings — who want variety and time rather than a set menu. The An Phú location also puts it within easy reach of the expat residential towers along the Saigon River bend, which accounts for much of its repeat traffic.
For Thao Dien residents looking for something beyond the usual cafe lunch or a bowl of phở, the buffet format here offers a change of register: hands-on, unhurried, and calibrated to groups rather than solo diners or couples seeking a quiet corner.
Reviews
Hana Buffet should update to the new tablet ordering method to save staff time and optimise the process. The food took a long time to arrive. Even though I was one of the first customers to arrive in the afternoon, the service was still slow and a bit inattentive. I worry about how the staff manages customers during peak hours around 7 PM. I have noticed that sometimes the kitchen does not prepare all the dishes I ordered, or sometimes the wrong dish comes up. Not sure if it was intentional or because of the staff's negligence while taking my order. I was disappointed that my order for grilled mussels with miso sauce was missing, while the table opposite me had it. Additionally, grilled oysters with cheese were served instead of my order of grilled oysters with scallion oil. Some items, like Edelweiss beer (priced at VND 30.000 on the menu but billed at VND 34.000), had price changes not reflected in the menu. The manager's service left a huge negative impression. When my table had finished grilling but had yet left (still enjoying our desserts), he wanted to use our charcoal stove for newly arrived customers. He did not even have the decency to ask politely, instead opting to dump more charcoal right there, despite the coal dust flying all over my dessert. It was the height of rudeness and a complete disregard for our dining experience. However, Hana Buffet has advantages that must be mentioned. A variety of dishes, from salad, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, pasta, pizza, hot pot, and desserts, are offered. Each plate is carefully seasoned and has a distinct flavour. Even though I consume a lot of meat, I do not feel bloated after eating. I especially praise the new employee named Lợi for his professional and enthusiastic service.
Good quality beef and pork; better than Meat and Meet, and GoGi House. Oysters were not fresh. Spaghetti was surprisingly good. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere is not crowded and seating area is indoors with AC. Highly recommend.
The food quality and seasoning are decent And that’s pretty much the only thing that’s okay here The restaurant’s quality has been steadily declining over the years They often run out of dishes - usually the more expensive ones There’s a lack of staff, and the management is genuinely poor in both attitude and professionalism Most notably, the place is old and dirty, you can clearly smell cockroaches as soon as you walk in, which is honestly disgusting Not recommended. There are plenty of BBQ spots in the area that are slightly more expensive but offer far better quality and standards.
We ate here yesterday. Most of the food was too oily and would make you feel bloated even. You will only be able to eat a little because you will feel full even though you are not. The staff was attentive enough to cater all our request and orders and food is served quite fast. The place needs more light and a little more cleaning.
