Flying Pig Saigon - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Flying Pig Saigon opens at 4 PM and runs until midnight most nights — 11 AM on Sundays — positioning it firmly in Thao Dien's evening and late-night tier rather than the neighborhood's dominant brunch-and-coffee culture. The menu is built around American bar food with a Tex-Mex lean: tacos filled with ling cod and zhough sauce or Cajun paprika shrimp with avocado, nachos loaded with jalapeños, olives, and salsa, and quesadillas in variations from straight melted cheese to pulled pork and mac n' cheese with a BBQ dipping sauce.
The loaded tater tots — cheddar, bacon, spring onion, sour cream — summarize the kitchen's approach well: familiar formats pushed into shareable, topping-heavy territory. Nashville chicken runs through both the taco menu and a slider pairing, each version bringing heat through jalapeño mayo. The pulled pork taco adds pico de gallo and guacamole for contrast, while the chili con carne taco layers mozzarella and sour cream over the base. Potato skins with emmental and onion, corndogs, and Thai chicken lettuce cups round out a snack section designed for groups ordering across the table rather than single plates.
The price point and format — shareable snacks, bar classics, sliders — draws a consistent expat and international crowd that gravitates toward Thao Dien's western-facing dining options. The midnight close gives it staying power on nights when the district's earlier-closing venues have already shut down. With 348 Google reviews averaging 4.4, Flying Pig Saigon holds a steady position as one of the area's more reliable options for American comfort food that actually runs late.

So, we ended up at Flying Pig for the Cheer for Chance event, totally my friend’s idea. “You have to try this place,” he said, and well, who am I to say no to drinks and snacks? We dove straight in, sampling all four special drinks made just for the event and munching on some fried goodies. Honestly, the flavors were good, delicious, no complaints there. The lady owner? Absolute pro. Friendly, sharp, and had everything under control. But here’s where it gets interesting: the event’s superstar bartender, the one everyone’s there to see, was going table to table, chatting and shaking hands like a celebrity on tour. And guess what? He managed to hit every single table in our area… except ours. Just strolled right past us like we were invisible. 🙂 Despite the bartender dodge, I’d still say this place is worth a visit. The food, the drinks, and the vibe all hit the mark. Highly recommended, I’ll just hope for some bartender love next time!
I was in town and was looking for a place to watch the Dodgers in the World Series. Through some research, Flying Pig said they were showing games starting at 7am. I reserved a table and showed up at 7am promptly. They have an extensive food and drink menus. On my first day there, I had the grilled cheese, wings and shrimp tacos. Everything was good and reasonably priced. The staff was excellent and will be going back there for the rest of the series. I highly recommend the Flying Pig!
The place is really nice; they have a rooftop which is nice when you come here for late dinner. The food is really good and tasty! Buffalo mac and cheese is highly recommended!
I wound-up only having Bloody Mary. They couldn't make the two things I ordered from the menu, so I figured I'd go somewhere else and eat what I want to eat and not just what the restaurant has around in the kitchen. By the way, Bloody Mary wasn't all that special either.
