The Story

About This Place

DOYA JJAMBBONG sits on Đường Số 10, a quiet residential lane in An Khánh, the kind of address that circulates between friends rather than appearing on tourist maps. The restaurant has built a following that cuts across nationalities — Korean expats, Japanese residents, and Western locals — united by a preference for accuracy over approximation when it comes to Korean-Chinese cooking.

The jjambbong is the anchor dish: a deep, chile-red broth packed with fresh seafood and thick, springy noodles. Diners from both Korea and Japan have noted the authenticity of both the broth structure and the noodle texture, which is meaningful feedback from people with a clear reference point. A non-spicy version is available for those who want the same umami-heavy seafood base without the heat, with table condiments allowing guests to calibrate from there. Jajangmyeon appears alongside it on the menu, and the tangsuyuk — sweet and sour pork — arrives in portions that consistently catch first-time visitors off guard.

Portions across the menu run large relative to neighborhood expectations, and several regulars note that prices read higher on paper than they feel after the food arrives. The mandu come out well-fried with a proper crisp shell, the kimchi holds up as a standalone order, and the banchan rounds out each table without feeling perfunctory. Service is described repeatedly as friendly and attentive, including on busy Saturday afternoons when the dining room fills.

The interior is more spacious than the frontage implies, which makes it workable for groups. With 821 Google reviews sitting at 4.9 stars, it occupies a specific position in Thao Dien's food landscape: a tightly focused specialist that has become a fixture across multiple dining communities without broadening its menu to chase a wider audience.

Maybe we came at the wrong time/day and picked the wrong items, but I dont understand the 4.9 rating... It was busy and tables all full, staff running, but still very polite and friendly. We choose the set menu with black bean noodles and spicy soup. The black bean noodle was very blend and lacking flavor compared to the spicy soup, which was overly spicy and salty. Wouldn't necessarily want to come back.

We had a great experience here. The place was spacious, and the staff were friendly. We ordered a Doya Jjambbong and a Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). The noodles were decent but a bit small in portion, while the Tangsuyuk was delicious and generously sized. We’d definitely return to try more dishes.

I recently discovered 도야 짬뽕 in Ho Chi Minh City, and it completely exceeded my expectations! If you're craving authentic Korean-Chinese cuisine, this is the place to go. The jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) is incredibly flavorful — rich, spicy broth with generous portions of fresh seafood and perfectly cooked noodles. It tastes just like what you'd find in Korea! The menu also offers other classics like jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, all prepared with great attention to detail. The flavors are bold and authentic, and you can tell the chef really knows what they're doing. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and welcoming, with friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. Whether you're Korean, Vietnamese, or a tourist looking to try something new, you'll feel right at home here. Highly recommend this place — it's a must-visit if you're in Ho Chi Minh and looking for something different and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back!
