UGO CAFÉ - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
Cute flower shop in town which hosts flower buffer daily and workshops worth attending
Today my friend and I joined the flower arrangement workshop at Ugo, and unfortunately it turned out to be the worst workshop experience I’ve ever had. Space (2/5) The café itself is quite small. There aren’t enough tables or space for both regular customers and workshop participants to sit comfortably or move around. Beverages & Pastries (3/5) The prices are reasonable, and the quality… is exactly what you’d expect for the price 🙂 The coffee was just okay. The croissant, however, was so flaky and dry it could compete with the Sahara Desert. It was probably due to reheating, but either way, I wouldn’t recommend ordering it. The Workshop (1/5) The workshop runs in three shifts (9:00–11:00, 11:30–13:30, and 14:00–16:00). The middle shift is slightly cheaper (10k less), while weekends cost a bit more—which is completely fair and clearly stated. My friend booked two slots for the 11:30 session. When we arrived, the previous session was still occupying the space, so there wasn’t really anywhere for us to start. After paying for two workshop + drink & pastry combos, we went to pick our flowers… only to find that most of the remaining flowers were visibly wilted and looked like leftovers (photos attached). We asked two staff members at the flower counter whether fresh flowers would be refilled. They told us flowers are only replenished once for the afternoon session. So if you book the middle shift, congratulations—you apparently get whatever survived the morning customers. What an interesting business model. We pointed out that there weren’t enough decent flowers for the second session, but were met with complete silence. Back at the cashier, we requested a refund because there simply weren’t enough flowers to reasonably conduct the workshop. The response? “I’ve already printed the receipt.” I understand the staff may not have the authority to make decisions, but what disappointed me was that no one informed customers about the flower shortage before taking payment. We weren’t the only ones—some other customers had already paid and were stuck trying to make bouquets from the remaining wilted flowers because, well, the money had already been spent. As for the workshop itself, the guidance was minimal, and the flower wrapping assistance wasn’t particularly helpful or skillful compared to dedicated floral workshops. To be fair, I don’t blame the staff personally—they’re running a coffee shop, not a florist or a workshop studio. That’s exactly why I think Ugo should stick to being a charming coffee shop that happens to sell flowers, instead of marketing flower arrangement workshops they clearly aren’t equipped to deliver consistently. A workshop isn’t just about providing flowers—it’s about providing enough quality materials, adequate guidance, and an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, this missed the mark on all three. Overall, this experience was disappointing from start to finish, and I wouldn’t recommend the flower workshop to anyone.
Love the flower theme here! The coffee is great, and the staff is very welcoming. Highly recommend.
How dare you sell a croissant for 125k that is small and most of all not fresh… heating it up masks the fact that it’s from yesterday even more. Upping the price because of the use of aop French butter, and then offering this quality. Really not ok. One time, never a second.
