Delab은 Thái Ly 거리의 작은 공간에 자리하고 있으며, 매장 안에는 바이닐 플레이어 소리와 버 밀 그라인딩 소리가 번갈아 배경음을 채운다. 이 카페는 자체적으로 원두를 로스팅한다 — Thao Dien의 같은 골목에 즐비한 수많은 카페들과 구별되는 지점이다 — 그리고 집중을 요하는 추출 방식들을 중심으로 메뉴를 구성한다. 테이스팅 노트가 기술된 V60 푸어오버, 이미 원하는 것을 아는 단골들을 위한 콜드브루, 거품 대신 깔끔함을 택한 솔티드 커피가 그것이다.
말차 프로그램도 같은 맥락의 신중함으로 운영된다. 말차 스테이션은 한눈에 들어오며 전용으로 꾸며져 있고, 말차는 제대로 거품을 낸 상태로 제공된다. 원두 선별에 기울이는 것과 동일한 의도로 소싱된 재료를 사용한다. 카페인을 피하고 싶은 이들을 위해 Sakura Jasmine Oolong Tea가 메뉴를 마무리하며, 느긋한 오후를 위한 시나몬 롤도 준비되어 있다.
바리스타 Dung은 재방문 손님들 사이에서 자주 언급되는 존재가 됐다 — 물어보지 않아도 원두의 산지를 줄줄이 설명할 수 있고, 커피에 관한 대화를 거래의 자연스러운 일부로 여기는 그런 직원이다. 거리 건너편으로는 뜻밖의 볼거리가 기다린다. 창가 자리에서는 건축가 Khoa Vu가 설계한 건물 The VEIL이 시야에 들어온다.
내부는 아담하지만 의도적으로 구성되어 있다. 바이닐 커버들이 꽂힌 선반, 소규모 도서 컬렉션, 가득 찬 느낌은 주되 답답하지 않을 만큼의 테이블 수. 노트북을 펼쳐 놓고 마감 시간을 훌쩍 넘기는 손님들이 모여들고, 첫 모금에서 이 공간의 진지함을 알아채는 Melbourne이나 Seoul 출신 스페셜티 커피 마니아들도 가끔 눈에 띈다. 소셜 미디어 촬영 배경부터 진지한 독립 카페까지 다양한 스펙트럼을 가진 Thao Dien에서, Delab은 확실히 후자의 진영에 속한다.
A calm, beautifully curated café with great taste and a very cozy atmosphere. The space is thoughtfully designed — there’s a shelf of vinyl covers arranged so nicely, and a dedicated matcha station that’s ideal for anyone looking to sit down and get some work done. The coffee is aromatic and well-made, and overall the space feels extremely comfortable and easy to spend time in. A lovely spot to slow down and enjoy the ambiance.
Stumbled upon Delab in Thao Dien and it’s a total mood. It’s a tiny, intimate space, but the vinyl player spinning in the corner gives it such a nostalgic, laid-back energy. Their matcha is legit, properly whisked and actually high quality, and the coffee is just as solid. It’s definitely one of those hidden gems that deserves way more love. Honestly, it's the perfect spot to just unplug and listen to some records for an hour.
Love the salted coffee. No foam on top but very tasty. The Sakura Jasmine Oolong Tea is quite refreshing for a hotter climate. Barista Dung is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to discuss the passion for coffee. Extra plus is a gorgeous building across the street called The VEIL by famed architect Khoa Vu
